Gunpowder & Sky

Floris Bauer is Co-Founder and President of Gunpowder & Sky, an independent studio that develops and produces award-winning film, television, audio and virtual reality projects. Since launching Gunpowder & Sky with Van Toffler in 2016, the studio has released more than 60 feature films and series in theaters and on leading services such as Apple, HBO, Netflix, MTV, Hulu, Sky, Showtime, Spotify, Amazon, YouTube, Audible, Roku and Discovery.

Projects include the Emmy-nominated The Notorious B.I.G. Sky’s The Limit: A VR Concert Experience (Meta), I Wanna Rock: The ‘80s Metal Dream (Paramount), Sometimes When We Touch (Paramount), Last Exit: Space (Discovery+), Call Me Miss Cleo (HBOMax), Gaming Wall Street (HBOMax), Sheryl (Showtime), 69: The Saga of Danny Hernandez (Hulu), Heist 88 (Showtime), 50 States of Fright (Roku), Words + Music (Audible), among others.

In addition, Bauer oversees Gunpowder & Sky’s venture arm that includes its sci-fi and horror media brands, DUST and ALTER, two FAST channels and an investment in the Gen Z brand, CUT.

Prior to founding Gunpowder & Sky, Bauer was part of Endemol Group’s management team and international board at Endemol Shine Group, a global leader in entertainment (Peaky Blinders, Black Mirror, Mr. Bean, Big Brother, Master Chef, Deal or No Deal, Fear Factor, Wipeout, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition). During his time at Endemol, he grew its global presence, instigating and overseeing numerous new territory and business launches, as well as completing more than 40 acquisitions, investments and exits in 15+ countries across TV/film production, distribution, FTA/Pay TV channels, digital video and gaming.  Prior to that, Bauer served as a lawyer and worked in private equity.

Bauer, a Dutch native, has also resided in Spain and the United Kingdom prior to moving to the United States.
