Jens Richter is Chief Executive Officer, Commercial and International, Fremantle.
Richter oversees the global distribution of Fremantle’s entertainment, scripted and unscripted formats and the company’s international content and acquisitions strategy. He also manages Fremantle’s successful Global Channels unit – Fremantle’s FAST channel and DTC business - which grew significantly in 2024 with more than 20 FAST channels in the US, and 97 new FAST channel endpoints. Richter also oversees Fremantle’s Digital team, which has become the eighth largest media organisation (by views) on YouTube and Facebook, with over 30 billion views across Fremantle-owned channels.
Since joining the business in 2014, Richter has strengthened the business’ slate through the acquisition and development of scripted programming and high-end factual programming; and driven activity in the co-financing and co-production space, with titles including Iris and Costiera. Key examples include Nightsleeper, which launched in 146 markets, as well as My Brilliant Friend, The Responder, The Zelensky Story, and the partnership and IP associated with Jamie Oliver.
Richter joined the business from Red Arrow Studios where he was Group Director and MD of Red Arrow Entertainment Group (RAEG). He was instrumental in building RAEG into a global production and distribution group. Richter was also MD of Red Arrow International (RAI), he was responsible for packaging and co-financing drama series, overall representation deals and extended the business into the digital space.
