Javier Pons Tubio is Chief Content Officer & Head of Telemundo Studios for NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises. In this role,
Pons oversees both the network’s entertainment division and. studios, responsible for the development and production of all scripted content, while also steering the entertainment division’s efforts across unscripted programming, daily shows and live
specials.
Pons is a veteran production executive with an extensive career leading content and production strategies across major media companies in the United States, Europe and Latin America. He joined Telemundo in 2024 as Executive Vice President ofTelemundo Studios, where he oversaw all scripted productions for the Telemundo network and its streaming platforms.
Since joining, he has spearheaded the launch of Dinastía Casillas, the latest installment in the flagship El Señor de los Cielos Super Series® franchise. This production is part of more than 600 hours of original scripted programming slated for the 2025–26 season, including Velvet: El Nuevo Imperio—which delivered Telemundo’s strongest scripted premiere since El Señor de losCielos 9 and led Spanish-language television in its time slot—and the high-stakes thriller Lobo, among others. His tenure has also seen the network extend its primetime leadership with the success of Pase a la Fama, Miss Universe® Latina, El Reality, and a record-breaking season of La Casa de los Famosos All-Stars.
With a career spanning more than three decades, Pons has held senior production and management roles across major media companies in the United States, Spain, France, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, and Argentina, and beyond. Most recently, he served as the General Director of Globomedia, one of Spain’s top production companies, and Head of TV at The Mediapro Studio. In these roles, he spearheaded the creation and production of several groundbreaking series for mobile and streaming platforms including “Nasdrovia” [Movistar], “Iron Hand” (Mano de Hierro) [Netflix], and “The Boarding School: Las Cumbres” (El internado, las Cumbres) [Amazon]. Pons co-produced acclaimed films such as “Official Competition” (Competencia Oficial), starring Antonio Banderas, Penelope Cruz, and Oscar Martínez, and he served as delegate producer on “The Good Boss” (El Buen Patrón), by Fernando León with Javier Bardem.
Pons also played a central role in the creation of innovative television formats, such as the
award-winning “Tengo Una Pregunta para Usted,” recipient of the Ondas award in 2020, as well
as popular competition shows like “Ninja Warrior” and “El Juego de los Anillos.” His experience
includes positions in prominent Spanish media companies including Prisa Radio, Televisión
Española and Grupo KISS Media. Additionally, he has served as an advisor and producer at On Demand Consulting and as Executive Producer at TV Azteca. Pons is a member of the Association of Journalists of Catalonia. He earned a degree in Information Sciences at the Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona. During his tenure at The Mediapro Studio, he helped establish the Screenwriting master’s program in partnership with Madrid’s Complutense University (UCM) and the National Film and Television School of London (NFTS).
